You actually have to eat closer to maintenance calorie levels

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Speaking generally, you actually have to eat closer to maintenance calorie levels (instead of far below) and expend more calories through exercise.

Even then, things don’t always happen as quickly as you want.

You see, once you’ve hit a fat loss plateau or when you’re trying to lose the last few pounds (like I was when I was dieting for the beach house), fat loss becomes less about energy balance and more about hormones.

You see, some hormones, such as Leptin, actually control the majority of your general fat loss efforts and all of the factors thereof: appetite, satiety, “starvation mode.” However, assuming you’re eating enough and trying to create an energy deficit through training, Leptin isn’t the issue.Click Here!

It seems like most fat loss programs focus on one main thing

Friday, August 13th, 2010

It seems like most fat loss programs focus on one main thing: to burn fat, you have to expend more energy than you take in.

Such a focus makes sense of course, because if there is a universal truth to fat loss, that’s it.

This is what we call “energy balance.” In order to lose fat, you have to create what we call “energy debt” or “energy deficit” – that is, eliminate the balance and instead be on the negative side of the balance scales.

Of course, that works very well for “beginning” fat. However, success doesn’t last forever.

As anyone who’s ever been on a diet and exercise program of any kind can tell you, at first it’s pretty smooth sailing. Eat less, do more, lose fat.

And then it stops! And as those same people can also tell you, it usually stops suddenly.

Of course, the first instinct people have is a very natural one…to simply do more of what was bringing them success in the first place.

So they eat even less and do even more.Click Here!

Green Tea

Green Tea

Green tea, black tea, oolong tea, and white tea all come from the same tea plant, Camellia sinensis. All teas from the camellia tea plant are rich in polyphenols, which are a type of antioxidant. Whether it’s green or black, tea has about 8 to 10 times the polyphenols found in fruits and vegetables (although the types of antioxidants are a bit different).
You can see how including a cup or 2 of tea can be a great way to get a mega dose of antioxidants into your day. However, just as people have taken information about the good ‘ol Acai berry too far, they have done the same with green tea. Yes, it is a wonderful addition to any diet, but it is not the miracle drink many people make it out to be. Studies have shown that it may have some metabolism increasing effects and assist the body in fat burning but drinking jugs and jugs of it all day is not going to guarantee long term weight loss. One to two cups is more than enough to receive its benefits. We also want to remember that tea does contain caffeine and some people need to be careful with their daily caffeine intake.

What Supplement is Right for You

Friday, July 30th, 2010

You know if I had a nickel for every time somebody asked me “Isabel, what supplements should I be taking?”, I swear, I’d be rich (and lying on the beach in Bermuda right now…or the Bahamas…I’m not picky.)

People are so confused and, sometimes, a bit too hung up on the supplement thing. Many times they are missing the big picture.Click Here!

There’s really no sense in overloading your body with a bunch of pills if you are not following the essential principles of healthy living. You would be better off focusing your efforts on getting your eating plan and your exercise regimen under control before worrying about which supplements do what or which ones may give you a “quick fix” to anything…comprende?

Now with that being said, I do agree that there are some supplements that we can be taking that do add great benefit to any meal plan (and some even help burn fat..good news right?)

That’s why I’ve decided to dedicate the next several newsletters to answering your most pressing questions about a handful of the most popular supplements out there (some good, some bad).Click Here!

Most of you already know that I am a big fan and a big proponent of taking a fish oil supplement each and every day. The benefits of a high quality fish oil are endless (as I’ve written about in the FATS chapter of your Diet Solution Manual) and really should be a part of anyone’s nutrition plan…women, men, children…everyone. Click Here!

I also think we can all benefit greatly from ingesting enough antioxidants each day. And if you are not getting them from food, you’ll need to supplement for those as well. Just in case you missed it, I explain the benefits and power of antioxidants as magical foods. Click Here!

Unique exercise to help flatten your stomach while driving

Friday, July 30th, 2010

say that this exercise does NOT increase fat burning, but it CAN help to flatten your stomach by strengthening your deeper transversus abdominis muscles and hence “pulling in” a lazy stomach (aka beer belly or “pooch belly”).

It involves doing an exercise called “ab vacuums”.

its a good time to get in the habit of doing daily ab vacuums while driving on your daily commute or another time that would get you in the habit of doing them regularly.Click Here!

Be Careful What You Believe

Be Careful What You Believe
There’s a threat to your business just waiting to pounce. It’s not the economy, or the government. It’s the people who are filled with doom and gloom about the economy and the world of business. Listen to them if you want to, but be very, very careful what you choose to believe.
This site is all about your business success. A big part of that success is linked to your mindset. That’s why I’ve spent the last decade immersed in the world of Advanced Thinking - the study of how our mind and our thinking works.
Here’s a classic example of how your thinking will massively influence your actions and your results in business.
A friend of mine, a recently retired MP, asked me a question a couple of days ago. He wanted to know how I thought the economy was doing, as the people he had been speaking to felt we were definitely experiencing a downturn.
People seem to obsess about this issue - the media certainly does - but it can be very, very dangerous. Here’s why.
Advanced Thinking shows us that what you believe affects your actions. Numerous studies have shown that people who believe that they are going to be more successful become more successful. People who believe they are leaders are better leaders. People who believe they are attractive do better with the opposite sex (whether or not they are what most would classify as ‘attractive’)
In fact the power of beliefs goes much further. Your beliefs directly affect your health. When drug companies test a new drug, they do double blind studies where one group gets the real drug, while the other group gets a water tablet with nothing in it - what’s known as the placebo.
What’s fascinating is that a proportion of the people who get the placebo (the drug with nothing in it) get better. There’s even a name for it - the ‘placebo effect.’
How do they get better? The only explanation is that because they believe they’re taking the real drug, their beliefs affect their body and their internal healing mechanism kicks in.
If you stop and think about that for a moment, the implications are staggering. It means your beliefs can directly influence your health.
If your beliefs can help you recover from illness, do you think it’s possible that your beliefs can influence your business results?
Do you think it’s possible that business owners who are bombarded with news stories about economic downturns, who are surrounded by people in the pub moaning about how bad business is, actually start believing all this, whether or not it’s true? And do you think it’s possible that if you believe we’re in a slowdown, you start acting differently in your own business whether or not there is a slowdown?
You’d better believe it. People get a sort of business depression. They slow down. They blame every problem on the economy or the government - and before they know it, they’ve created the downturn in their own business, by their own lack of action.
Many years ago, I had an office above a leasing company. Every day when I went in I would pass the owner of the leasing company, say ‘hello’ and ask how he was doing. Every day he would tell me how bad the economy was. I tried to tell him about some of the really obvious Marketing he should be doing but he never listened. He was too busy moaning and complaining. It was very obvious that he was heading for disaster - not because of the economy, but because of his own thinking.
Sure enough, six months later the receivers came along and carried out all his goods. He seemed strangely satisfied. I think there’s a comfort in believing that everyone else is to blame for your situation and there’s nothing you can do about it. That’s why so many people live their lives at ‘effect’ rather than ’cause.’
So when my MP friend asked me the question about the economy, it reminded me what an important issue this is.
As a business owner, I have virtually no interest in what the media or government or the local gossip has to say about how the economy is doing.
Firstly, these reports of economic downturns or even recessions are huge, huge generalisations. They are averages. I don’t know about you, but one of my life missions is never to be average. I couldn’t imagine anything worse.
So they average out how everyone is doing to come up with these generalisations. But in any downturn or recession, there will be hundreds of thousands of people who do very, very well. One of the reasons they do so well is they do not buy in to the general consensus about how business or the economy is doing.
Second, these downturns are just blips. We live in a world oozing with wealth if you look in the right places. When our economy takes a dip it’s like Pavarotti hitting a bad note. In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter.
Thirdly, and most importantly I know that my Marketing knowledge can ride the economic waves. If you really get deep into the material I’m sharing with you. If you devour this material every month and go back and re-listen to the seminars, your results should be hundreds of per cent ahead of your competition. Maybe 300% more. So in a bad year it’s just 200% more. Who cares?
The greatest protection you can give yourself against economic downturns is becoming excellent at Marketing.
However - and here’s the public health warning - you can do all of the above but if you start buying into the cultural beliefs about the state of the economy, you’re risking disaster. I strongly believe that it’s peoples’ beliefs about the state of the economy that do far more damage than any particular economic pattern.
So over the next few months, you’ll see and hear and read heated debate among the ‘experts’ trying to work out how we’re all doing. I suggest you ignore all of them. They have no idea how you’re doing and they have no idea how it’s possible to rise above the average if you get just a little bit smart.
As someone once said, ‘All we have to fear is fear itself.’
Of course, talking of fear, it’s not just the economic doom merchants we have to learn to ignore. Even when things are booming, we’re all being told how we’re going to be blown up by terrorists and how they can do untold harm to the economy etc.
You really don’t want to buy into all this doom and gloom. While acknowledging the terrible suffering of those who’ve been hit by terrorism, I remember going to school wondering whether the next bang you were going to hear was a nuclear bomb going off and the end of the world. I would swap those days for these anytime.
It’s a great time to be alive. There are more opportunities out there than ever before. The internet is transforming our world and our businesses and you and I are at the leading edge of all this.
Let everybody else worry about the economy. You focus on doing some new Marketing tests and enjoy watching the money pour in.
Your thinking and your mind run your life. Use them wisely.

Low Fat Foods DON’T WORK.

Low Fat Foods DON’T WORK.

You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets. Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. This fact alone should tell you that eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight.Click Here!

Low Calorie Diets DON’T WORK.

You won’t lose weight using a Low Calorie Dieting Plan either. In fact, eating low calories is the worst thing that you can do to your body, since that will only slow down your body’s fat burning engine and ruin all chances of losing weight (low calorie diets may allow a few pounds of weight loss for the first few days, but then after that all weight loss comes to a halt — known as a dieting plateau). You can never get slim by starving yourself.Click Here!

Low Carb Plans DON’T WORK.

You’ll probably find it extremely difficult to get slim using a Low Carb Dieting Plan. Low carb diets have recently become popular over the last couple years, but the problem with low carb menus is that they are too strict and TOO HARD TO FOLLOW for average people. Low carb menus tend to rob your body of too much energy (carbohydrates) and make it nearly impossible to remain on the program for very long. This is why so many dieters find it difficult to follow a strict low carbohydrate menu.Click Here!

What about Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig Dieting Plans?

Weight loss programs such as Weight Watchers (and Jenny Craig) usually involve slower dieting progress over a longer period of time, since such programs generally promise only 2-3 pounds of weight loss per week. Also, programs such as Jenny Craig usually involve buying special meals and/or dietary supplements during the initial phases of the program. While some people may like these types of dietary programs, we prefer a dieting plan which focuses on faster weight loss, such as the Accelerated Fat Burning Program shown below.Click Here!

Tips to get you started on a heart healthy plan

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Use the following 5 tips to get you started on a heart healthy plan:

1. Drop the smokes. Yes, smoking has been shown to be one of the biggest risk factors in heart disease, mainly because of all the toxic chemicals added to cigarettes (not that I’m recommending tobacco or anything.) Click Here!

2. Walk, walk, walk. If finding time for a structured exercise program is just too much of a challenge right now, just start by walking. I have known many people who have strengthened their heart and reversed severe conditions by getting outside and walking. If you can, find a scenic route. There’s nothing more calming than the outdoors. (I highly recommend whistling and singing while you walk. It makes for happy thoughts.) Click Here!

3. Calm down. By this I mean, don’t stress about the stuff you don’t have to. This is actually a very funny statement coming from me who used to stress about everything! Deadlines, laundry, work, family… you name it, I stressed about. Not until I realized that this would kill me no matter how healthy my food was did I drop the stress and pick up the laughter. Right now as I write this newsletter, I’ve got more things that need to get done today than are humanly possible. My reaction “Haha..better put my Superwoman shirt on” Click Here!

4. Do not and I repeat, do not go on a low-fat diet. Your heart condition may get worse in your attempts. Drop the bad fats (like hydrogenated oil and the nasty oil in French fries and donuts) and start eating more healthy fats like coconut oil, olive oil, salmon, walnuts and whole organic eggs. Click Here!

5. Do not be afraid to eat saturated fat. If read “The Truth About Saturated Fat” in The Diet Solution Program you know that eating saturated fats is not what is causing people to get heart disease. It is processed foods, sugars and an overabundance of refined carbohydrates that is making this country so sick. The whole saturated fats topic gets me so fired up, I even made a video to further inform you Click Here!

I fell into the same “quick fix” trap

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Back in the day when I was still struggling to lose weight and getting totally desperate to see any kind of results, I fell into the same “quick fix” trap that I still see people falling into now. I tried every last extreme diet out there and I even resorted to dangerous fat burning pills…all in an effort to drop even just a little bit of weight…something, anything…I just didn’t want to be fat any-more.
